Our Mission

Pirates Camp is dedicated to creating a safe and fun pirate experience.

Activities

All of our activities place a major emphasis on role playing. At any time you might find your pirate fencing, treasure hunting, playing sports with a pirate twist, singing sea-shanties (pirate songs), watching a magic show, juggling, or getting a (temporary)pirate tattoo.

Facilities

Although we utilize the entire beautiful Stanford campus to search for treasure and fun, our base of operations is the Varsity Fencing room downstairs in the Arrillaga Sports and Recreation building. We lay claim to the large indoor basketball courts as well as the nearby sand volleyball courts for our many pirate games.

Our Staff

Our Staff is made up of the finest swashbucklers you will ever meet. We pull our staff from diverse backgrounds. In the past we have had PhD students, tattoo artists, Stanford Varsity Fencers and Olympic Athletes. We put an emphasis making sure every pirate feels like a member of their crew by keeping our camp and our groups as small as possible. Our experienced and professional Captains (counselors) ensure your small pirate has the time of their life.

History

Pirates camp was conceived as a joint venture between Stanford Varsity Fencing and the sailing club. This camp served limited numbers of pirates and was loved by the few that could attend.

In 1999, Lisa Posthumus and Catherine D'Arcey took direction of camp and decided to change the format to pirates current conception. They worked hard to build pirates from simply fencing and sailing to the role playing adventure that it is today.

Pirates Camp continues to serve the Stanford Community to the benefit of pirates everywhere.
